Project #8 Merry early Christmas 2.0

Concept

This is the second updated version of the camera that I have previously created. I have added some interface to the camera that allow people to make decisions based on their own choice. I think many of us have imagined being one of the characters from a cartoon or a tv show when we were little. I was one of them. I remember one year my mom put a box of chocolates under my blanket at the end of my bed, woke me up, and told me that Santa was here last night when I was sleeping. I was so surprised when I found that box of chocolate and truly believed that Santa actually came last night. Inspired by this experience, I decided to create a camera that was inspired by the christmas santa gift card. Since winter is here and Christmas is around the corner, I wanted to create a camera that would allow people to be Santa and share their joy to others.

Design process:

In order to use the camera, the user has to go through some decision making process. At the beginning of the page, there is a start button to start the process. Once entered to the second page. The user will be introduced to the theme of the camera and get a sense of what this camera is about, which is the “world of Santa”. There is a sentence showing below the title of the camera and it says: “!We would like to have your permission in accessing your web camera!”. This is to let the user know and give their permission in having access to their web camera. Once the user agrees to use their own web camera. They will be directed to the camera itself and they can experience the Santa filter and try the gift card option to see what it looks like when they are part of a christmas gift card. If the user does not feel comfortable having their web camera being accessed, they can click the BACK button to return to the front page.

Reflction

Overall I do really appreciate this assignment because it allows me to think as the one who is using the camera and to design from their perspective. This assignment gives me an opportunity to be contentful and think about things related to privacy and rights or accessing information that I do not have access to. I think it is really important to carry this idea of constanful in the future journey of designing.
